Washington, D.C. - Central Union Mission is hosting their annual Veterans' Day Luncheon today with a program featuring former enlisted men sharing their memories and insight regarding the value of military service to them later in life.

"As a former infantry soldier, I look forward to this annual event," said Executive Director David O. Treadwell. "At the Mission, we are pleased to have the opportunity to honor those who have dutifully served our country and hear firsthand how their service impacted their lives. I can think of no greater way to honor their service."

The annual event is held to honor the service of some of our area's homeless veterans. Additionally, the luncheon serves as an occasion for the Mission to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. The Mission was founded in 1884 to serve homeless Civil War veterans.
